Lakewood Reflections: Senior Behavioral Health

Too many people suffer in silence as they try to cope with changes in their lives. Physical decline, dependence on others, safety and multiple losses are just a few of the concerns that contribute to depression and other mental health issues for the elderly.
The Lakewood Reflections program at Lakewood Health System’s Senior Campus is designed to help deal with these unique coping issues.

DESIGNED FOR YOU
The Lakewood Reflections program is designed for persons 55 years and older with symptoms and/or behaviors that are interfering with social, vocational or educational functioning; persons who have not benefited greatly through other treatment options, or for persons who are experiencing an emotional decline and mental changes, like:
- Lack of energy or motivation.
- Avoiding family & friends.
- Constant worrying.
- Difficulty sleeping.
- Poor appetite.
- Confused thinking.
- Feelings of sadness or loneliness.
- Loss of interest in daily activities.
- Low self-esteem.
- Change in temperament.
OUR APPROACH
With all care at Lakewood Health System, we believe teamwork is the best work. We work with the patient and his/her family or caregiver(s) under the guidance of a multi-disciplinary team. Nurses, social workers, professional counselors, mental health staff and your physician all help to provide you with individualized care that stresses dignity and the goal of helping you live your life to its fullest.
INPATIENT, SHORT-STAY UNIT
Lakewood Reflections offers a short-stay (inpatient) program for persons with more urgent concerns, including:
- Suicidal or homicidal thinking.
- Hallucinations and delusions.
- Destructive and aggressive behavior.
- Need for adjustment of psychotropic medications requiring skilled observation.
- Medical conditions affected by psychiatric symptoms.
The inpatient program allows for around-the-clock oversight and treatment of behavioral disturbances affecting an individual’s functioning and activities of daily living.
STRUCTURED, OUTPATIENT PROGRAM
Intensive and comprehensive mental health care to adults 55 years and older.
The outpatient program allows patients to receive services in the least restrictive environment and to return home each evening. The outpatient program may provide transportation, if needed.
ADMISSION
A referral for care can come from a health professional or from a member of your family. Lakewood Reflections can provide a clinical evaluation—at no cost—to determine the need for treatment. Admission to the program will be offered only to those persons a physician has determined require outpatient mental health treatment and who will be able to actively participate in treatment.
AFFORDING YOUR CARE
Medicare and most private insurance plans cover the cost of services provided.
