Expectations
Expectations Team Provides Services from Pregnancy
to Parenthood
Lakewood Health System is proud to provide
a perinatal service—Expectations.
The former OB Education/Perinatal Educators department has
a new name and a new look that reflect its expanded services. Expectations is
offered as a free, complimentary service to all expectant parents
at Lakewood Health System. The Expectations team includes Sarah
Baumgartner, RN, CLC; Allison Rondestvedt, RN, CLC; Kim Quance,
RN, CLC; and Nan Kalk, RN; Heidi Storry, RN; and Amber Noble, RN, CLC.
“Our team provides support from pregnancy
to parenthood for expectant parents, families and siblings,” said
Sarah Baumgartner, OB Coordinator. “We offer relaxation and
breathing classes for moms and their coaches, lactation counseling,
car seat safety education and home visits after the birth.” A
wide range of topics are covered during visits, including physical
changes during and after pregnancy, baby growth, nutrition,
safety, feeding options, labor, delivery and family transitions. Expectations team
nurses also assist with births at Lakewood Health System Hospital
in Staples. After delivery, moms receive a car seat, a luxurious
robe and a baby care bag courtesy of Expectations.
Expectations visits
take about 30 minutes and are held either before or after healthcare
provider appointments. Parents can choose as many visits as
they need and coaches, friends or family members are welcome
at any visit. Visits are available at Lakewood Clinics in Staples,
Browerville, Eagle Bend, Motley and Pillager. The Expectations
team is also available by phone for questions.
