Types of massage include:

Swedish massage is the most commonly offered and best-known type of massage. If it’s your first time receiving a massage, Swedish massage is the perfect place to start.

During Swedish massage, our massage therapists use massage oils to facilitate smooth, gliding strokes. Other classic Swedish massage moves include kneading, friction, stretching and (sometimes) tapping.

Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits including:

  • Stress, tension and anxiety relief
  • Improved blood circulation, which delivers oxygen and nutrients to the cells
  • Stimulation the lymphatic system, which carries away the body’s waste products
  • Prevent and relieve muscles cramps and spasms
  • Pain management in conditions such as arthritis, sciatica, muscle spasms

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. Myofascial release below the superficial connective tissue allows free flow of nutrients and oxygen to the blood. It is a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots.

Also called a medical massage, your choice of a trigger point massage will focus on specific areas of tight or sore muscles. It can help alleviate chronic pain and release constricted areas in the muscles.

Therapeutic doTERRA® oils can be incorporated into any massage. Therapeutic essential oils are highly concentrated plant oils that are absorbed through your skin during your chosen massage.

Most commonly chosen for stress relief and relaxation, these oils are also credited with relieving menstrual pain, insomnia, and anxiety. Speak with your certified massage therapist to learn more.

A hot stone massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth, heated stones for a deep penetrating effect. We use basalt stone, which is a black volcanic stone that absorbs and retains heat. A hot stone therapy massage is deeply soothing for tight muscles and releases muscle strain.

Research shows that massage can reduce stress hormones in your body and relax and loosen your muscles. It can also increase blood flow, which is so important when you’re pregnant, and keep your lymphatic system working at peak efficiency. Prenatal massages are generally considered safe after the first trimester, as long as you get the green light from your practitioner and you let your massage therapist know you’re pregnant.

Whether a C-Section or vaginal birth, a mom’s body goes through a lot during the birthing process. After labor and delivery, massage helps alleviate sore muscles that have been stressed, helping mom regain her strength, energy and mental balance.

Recovery after a surgical procedure can be a difficult and frustrating time. Post-surgical massage can reduce swelling and decrease bruising, which will reduce soreness and discomfort. The relaxation of massage can also help reduce stress and anxiety during the period of recovery as well.
