Ophthalmology

An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor (MD) with specialized training in the diagnosis and surgical and non-surgical treatment of conditions involving the eyes.

When to See an Eye Doctor

Make an appointment with an eye doctor if you experience symptoms such as:

  • Blurry vision or change in vision
  • Eye pain
  • Red eye
  • Stye, or a pink lump at the eyelids edge

Dr. David Sabir from Northern Eye Center, and Dr. Stacy Sjoberg from Crosby Eye Center perform procedures at Lakewood Health System on a regular basis and work with local optometrists. The ophthalmologist may be consulted regarding blepharoplasty (surgery of the eyelid), phacoemulsification (ultrasonic removal of cataracts), and treatment of eye injuries and other diseases of the eye.

Some services provided by these ophthalmologists include:

  • Cataract removal and lens implants
  • Eyelid procedures
  • Laser procedures
