Respiratory Therapy

The Respiratory Therapy department at Lakewood provides care for people with serious health problems associated with their lungs and the ability to breathe. Working in close cooperation with our primary care providers, our department is staffed by licensed respiratory care practitioners and treats a host of respiratory conditions such as asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and pneumonia as well as many other respiratory ailments. The department’s scope of care includes, but is not limited to:

  • Respiratory and oxygen therapy
  • Airway management and resuscitation
  • Diagnostic testing and monitoring
  • Mechanical ventilation
  • Pulmonary function testing
  • High flow oxygen
  • BiPAP management
  • Neonatal care
  • Emergency services
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Education and learning opportunities

 

A pulmonologist from CentraCare regularly visits Lakewood Health System. Consultation, treatment, and diagnostic testing are available for pulmonary diseases including:

  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Congenital malformations of the lung
  • Recurrent pneumonia
  • Persistent coughing
  • Pulmonary hemosiderosis
  • Immotile cilia syndrome
  • Asthma
  • COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
