Coronavirus or COVID-19 is a previously unidentified virus that causes illnesses ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases. Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties.
Lakewood Health System has developed a task force that meets regularly to examine and work on preparations regarding the coronavirus, modifying plans based on cases that may develop by using recommendations from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). They are considering all departments/service lines when making these plans. As with any infectious disease or emergent situation, we are being proactive to ensure we have the correct equipment, people and processes in place to best serve our patients and communities.
