Lakewood Health System is offering flu shot clinics during the month of October. Clinic dates, times and locations are:
- Wednesday, October 11 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Pillager clinic (653 Pillsbury St. N)
- Saturday, October 21 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Staples clinic (49725 Cty. 83 – Entrance B)
- Thursday, October 26 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Browerville clinic (30535 241st Ave.)
Flu shots are also available starting Monday, September 25 at all Lakewood clinic locations during regular business hours, Monday through Friday. Everyone six months and older is eligible for a flu shot. FluMist and high-dose options are available to those who qualify.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), annual flu vaccination is recommended for everyone six months and older, with few exceptions. Vaccination is especially important for those who are at higher risk of developing serious flu complications. People with higher risk include, but are not limited to:
- Adults 65 and older
- Pregnant people
- Young children
- Those with:
- Cancer
- Asthma
- Heart disease and stroke
- Diabetes
- Chronic kidney disease
- HIV/Aids
Pre-registration for flu shots is encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. (The Saturday, October 21 flu shot clinic is by walk-in only.) To schedule a flu shot, please call 218-894-1515.
