At Lakewood Health System we understand the importance of protecting our patients and those around us, which is why we encourage all our patients to get a flu shot.
Starting Monday, October 2, flu shots are available during any regularly scheduled clinic appointments or by walk-in during regular clinic hours: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in Staples, Browerville, Eagle Bend, Motley and Pillager. They are also available on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. during the Saturday walk-in clinic in Staples, and Tuesday, Oct. 24 from 12 to 8 p.m., also in Staples.
According to studies done by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the nasal spray flu vaccine used in past years was found to be ineffective and the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted that it will not be used or distributed during the 2017-2018 flu season. Therefore, Lakewood will only be using traditional flu “shot”, and recommends it for everyone six months and older.
Insurance billing for shots is available. Go to www.lakewoodhealthsystem.com for locations, or call 218-894-1515.
