Lakewood Health System is offering a new pain education group to all patients and community members. The group is free to all and takes place once a month starting in July. All meetings will take place in Lakewood’s Main Campus (49725 Cty. 83, Staples) Classrooms on the lower level, unless noted.
The group was created to help people live better with pain. Each meeting will have an educational topic focused on pain. Topics include medications, body mechanics, interaction of pain with mood and lifestyle, and more. There will be time for group discussion and questions at the end of each meeting.
Group dates for the rest of 2023 are listed below.
- July 11 at 5 p.m.: Why are my nerves so sensitive? Presented by Tony Schotzko, PT. (Meeting will take place in MC Boardroom)
- August 8 at 12 p.m.: How the brain interprets pain. Presented by Dr. Paul Davis. (Meeting will take place in MC Boardroom)
- September 12 at 5 p.m.: Medical management of pain. Presented by Dr. Adrianne Moen.
- October 2 at 5 p.m.: Pain interventions. Presented by Robert Gonzalez, CRNA at Holistic Pain Management.
- November 6 at 12 p.m.: One step at a time. Presented by Tony Schotzko, PT.
- December 5 at 12 p.m.: TBD. Presented by Dr. Paul Davis.
