Carrie Kneisl, Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) and Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) is the newest member of Lakewood Health System’s Women’s Health team.
Originally from Bertha, MN, Kneisl received her registered nursing degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She completed her Masters in Midwifery at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and joins Lakewood after working seven years as a midwife in both Alaska and Minneapolis. She is certified in midwifery by the American Midwifery Certification Board and the National Certification Corporation.
Kneisl specializes in providing care to women of all ages, from pre-childbearing years to post-menopause. She has a special interest in caring for women during the prenatal period, all the way through labor, delivery and beyond. She also has an interest in teen contraception, well-women care, and sexual health. Kneisl sees patients at Lakewood’s Browerville and Staples clinics.
“I love accompanying women on their pregnancy journey, but whether it’s a 14-year-old girl with period concerns, a 28-year-old first-time mother, or a 50-year-old woman with menopausal concerns, I’m here to help,” said Kneisl. “I was a patient here at Lakewood growing up and I have always been impressed with the care and staff. I even considered it a dream of mine to come back and practice here one day. That dream has come true.”
Kneisl is married and lives in the Pillager area where she and her husband raise two children, a 2-year-old son, and 5-month-old daughter. Away from work, she loves to spend time with family and friends outdoors during our beautiful Minnesota summers.
