Medicare Cost Plan Changes in 2019

As a result of recent changes in federal law, Medicare Cost plans are coming to an end and will no longer be available in most Minnesota counties in 2019. If you are affected by this change, you should have received a letter from Medicare and/or your insurance provider. Your insurance company or broker is the best resource for personalized information and guidance on this topic. As your local healthcare partner, we also wanted to make sure you are aware of this change and provide resources to ensure you have sufficient Medicare coverage in 2019.

Nearly 350,000 Minnesota residents who currently have the Medicare Cost Plan (a type of Medicare plan) need to choose a new plan for next year or they will be at risk of being enrolled in another plan or even losing their plan. Again, we encourage you to contact your insurance company or personal broker to determine if you are affected by these changes and weigh your options.

If you don’t have a broker, you can call 1-800-Medicare or visit www.Medicare.gov for more information. You can also set up an appointment with a Minnesota Senior LinkAge Line® representative at our senior campus on one of the following dates by calling 1-800-333-2433.
