When Annette Crocker’s family sought hospice care for their mother, they turned to the Care Center at Lakewood. Annette dedicated more than 40 years of her life to Lakewood as an employee, making it especially meaningful for her to receive care from the very people she once worked alongside. Throughout their journey, they spent time in two different hospice suites and found each space profoundly meaningful—offering privacy, a dedicated family area, and, most importantly, the exceptional compassion and support of the Lakewood team.
After Annette’s passing, the Hendricks family wanted to honor the care their mother received in a way that would help other families walking a similar path. With hospice suites often at full capacity, Lakewood identified the need to renovate an additional room to better serve patients and families. The Hendrickses stepped forward to make this possible. “It has always been important to us to find purposeful ways to help and give back in the communities we live in,” shared Duane and Linda.
Through their established charitable fund—the Duane & Linda Hendricks Family Charitable Fund—they made a heartfelt gift in memory of Annette. Their generosity will renovate an existing room into a hospice suite designed to provide peace, comfort, and dignity for patients and a supportive, private space for their loved ones.
