Lakewood Health System Recognized by Minnesota Hospital Association

Sept 24, 2025: Forty teams and individuals from across the state were recognized by the Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) last week for their work to strengthen health care in Minnesota. Presented during MHA’s Annual Meeting, these awards honor efforts that advance sustainability, quality and safety, and innovation in the state’s hospital and health systems. MHA also recognized hospital volunteers, trustees, and state lawmakers for their dedication to supporting the health of Minnesota communities.

Lakewood Health System received two recognitions: one for Innovation in Patient Care and the other for Sustainability. Per the MHA:

• In the heart of rural Minnesota, where every mile matters and every minute saves lives, Lakewood Health System’s Emergency and EMS teams redefined stroke care with bold innovation and seamless teamwork to reduce turnaround times and greatly speed up medical intervention. This extraordinary commitment to continuous improvement in emergency care is delivering life-changing outcomes to the communities that need it most.
• Lakewood Health System set out to improve the setting and care experience for their cancer center. The Lakewood team sustainably designed a new cancer center that provides elevated patient services in a setting that overlooks a natural wetland on the hospital’s campus.

“These awards highlight the dedication of Minnesota’s hospital and health system staff, trustees, and partners to improving the health of our communities,” MHA President and CEO Dr. Rahul Koranne said. “Their efforts are improving patient outcomes in communities across our region, supporting caregivers, and preparing our health system for challenges ahead.”
