COVID-19 is a previously unidentified virus that causes illnesses ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases. Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties.

Lakewood Health System has developed a task force that meets regularly to examine and work on preparations regarding the coronavirus, modifying plans based on cases that may develop by using recommendations from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). They are considering all departments/service lines when making these plans. As with any infectious disease or emergent situation, we are being proactive to ensure we have the correct equipment, people and processes in place to best serve our patients and communities.

Signs & Symptoms

For most healthy people, mild cases will have symptoms much like the common cold, though that is not always true. For the most up-to-date information on COVID-19 signs and symptoms and when to get tested, visit the MDH or CDC websites. If you need assistance determining if you should be tested, Lakewood offers a free Click Care visit.
