Roxanne Zerwas, licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW), joins Lakewood Health System’s clinic behavioral health staff.
Originally from St. Paul, MN, Zerwas received her Master in Social Work degree from the University of St. Thomas and College of St. Catherine’s joint social work program. She had a graduate internship at Abbott Northwestern/Sister Kelly Institute where she worked with people who sustained spinal cord injuries. Zerwas is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
As a clinical social worker, Zerwas provides mental health care and support to patients in Lakewood’s clinic setting. She has a passion for working with young children and specializes in those ages birth to five years. Zerwas is specially trained in child-parent psychotherapy (C-PP) and childhood trauma.
“I am very excited to be part of the Lakewood community where I can work, serve and live closer to family,” said Zerwas. “I’m looking forward to becoming a grandmother in August.”
Zerwas and her husband, Jeff, had two children, who are now wonderful adults: Alex is 20, living in Thief River Falls where he grew up, and Morgan is 24 and married an amazing man last summer. Zerwas and her family had a celebration of life for her late husband, going on two years. He fought brain cancer for ten years and finished well.
