Staples Rotary Celebrates Healthcare ‘Heroes’

ROTARY THANKS NEWSPAPER PHOTO sm

The Staples Rotary Club recently delivered signs to Lakewood Health System as a show of appreciation of the work being done by healthcare workers for the Staples community. The signs read: Thank you healthcare heroes, and will be posted at employee and provider entrances in all Lakewood facilities for the next few months.

“During our weekly Rotary meetings, we have a great deal of discussion about COVID-19, whether it be testing, vaccinations, or most importantly, receiving medical services in the middle of a pandemic,” said Rotary member and Lakewood System Board Chair, Jim Hofer. “Rotary members and their families have received outstanding services from Lakewood providers and employees who are putting themselves on the front line.”

“The general sentiment of the Rotary was that we needed to show Lakewood employees how appreciative we are of them. They deserve to be called ‘community heroes’ for being there for the whole community. We reached out to Lakewood administration about posting the signs and they were very receptive.”

Rotarians are business, professional and community leaders who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. The Rotary motto is ‘Service above self, they profit most who serve the best’.
