Barbara Kaneski, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), and Lisa Smeby, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), are the newest primary care providers to join Lakewood Health System’s medical staff.
Originally from Duluth, Barb completed her undergraduate and graduate work at the College of St. Scholastica. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
As a family nurse practitioner, Barb enjoys all aspects of caring for primary care patients. “Staples is a great family-oriented community; the people are wonderful,” she said. “I have family and grandchildren in Duluth, and I’m excited to spend more time with them.”
Barb enjoys walking, hiking, and biking. She can’t wait to fish in Minnesota again.
Originally from Swanville, Lisa completed her undergraduate and doctoral work at the College of St. Scholastica. As a family nurse practitioner with a doctorate in nursing practice, Lisa is a family practice provider who enjoys caring for people from the young to the elderly. 
Lisa is married with four children. She enjoys spending time with her family. “I have been with Lakewood for several years as a registered nurse,” she said. “I’m excited to branch out and continue to help provide great care to patients.”
