This hands-on skills session is the required in-person component of the American Heart Association's blended learning programs, including Heartsaver® CPR/AED and HeartCode® BLS. Participants must complete the designated online coursework prior to attending this session.
During the skills session, learners will demonstrate competency in CPR, AED use, and other required resuscitation skills under the guidance of an AHA instructor. This training is designed for both non-healthcare individuals seeking CPR certification, such as teachers, coaches, and workplace employees, as well as healthcare professionals whose roles require clinical resuscitation skills, including nurses, physicians, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and medical assistants.
You need to have completed one of the following online courses before signing up for the skills test-out:
- Heartsaver® Total - First Aid CPR AED Online: Anyone with little or no medical training who needs first aid and CPR certification for work, OSHA compliance, or personal preparedness.
- Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Online: Childcare workers, teachers, foster care workers, camp counselors, youth organization leaders, children's sports coaches, as well as parents, grandparents, extended family members, babysitters, and guardians.
- Heartcode® BLS Online: Healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to perform CPR and basic cardiovascular life support skills in both in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.
Upon successful completion of both the online and in-person components, participants will receive an American Heart Association certification card that is valid for two years.
This class will take place in-person on Wednesday, December 9, 2026 from 4:30 to 5 p.m. in the lower level classrooms at Lakewood's Main Campus (49725 Cty. 83- Staples).
