For Emergency Assistance, Call 911!

Our Emergency Department (ED) is staffed by registered nurses (RN), advanced practice clinicians (ACP), and physicians who work together to assess, diagnose and treat emergent medical conditions. Lakewood is equipped with ambulances to transport patients to the hospital, and a helipad to transport patients elsewhere in emergency situations. We provide medical/trauma care, crisis intervention, and client education in a caring and confidential environment.

Ambulance Service

The Lakewood Health System/Staples Ambulance Service is staffed with paramedics and emergency medical technicians (EMT), providing the highest level of pre-hospital care in emergency transfer. With three, Type III ambulances, the department provides over 1,000 ambulance runs and transfers for the Staples community annually. The department also serves as a resource for surrounding area first responders.

Crisis Intervention

Crisis intervention involves an assessment by an RN and a physician or APC (physician assistant (PA) or nurse practitioner (NP)), as well as an exam by a trained member of our Mobile Crisis Outreach and/or referral to a specialist in behavioral health may be done.

We do not give out medical advice over the telephone. If you have specific questions, there is a nurse hotline number on the back of your health insurance card. If you have an emergency and need to be seen by a medical provider, visit our Emergency Department. Our Staples clinic is open Monday through Thursday until 8:00 p.m., Fridays until 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays for walk-in appointments from 8 a.m. until noon.

To maintain patient privacy and ensure medical staff can focus on individual care, at this time, only one person is permitted to accompany patients into the ED. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
