Acessa®: Uterine Fibroid Treatment
Get lasting relief from fibroid symptoms with a minimally invasive procedure that protects your uterus and gets you back to your life faster.
Up to 77% of women may develop fibroids in their child bearing years
There is an innovative treatment for fibroids now available at Lakewood Health System. The Acessa® procedure is a treatment to identify and shrink symptomatic uterine fibroids for patients who are tired of living with the ongoing pain and discomfort of fibroids and are looking for a minimally invasive option that allows them to keep their uterus and return to daily life quickly after the procedure.
What are the common results of the procedure?
- Most patients report they have significantly lighter periods and alleviated pelvic pain and pressure.
- In a clinical study, there was an average shrinkage of 45% in fibroid size post-procedure. This number is contingent on where the fibroid is located and the size.
- Women typically see the most symptom improvement within three months of the procedure with continued improvement throughout the first year.
- In a clinical study, patients experienced clinically and statistically significant reduction in period blood loss.
- Significant reduction in fibroid and uterine volume.

By the Numbers
In a clinical study:
- 94% of patients responded that the treatment had been somewhat, moderately, or very effective in eliminating their symptoms.
- Only 11% of patients required additional reintervention after the Acessa procedure.
- 98% reported they would probably or definitely recommend the procedure to their friends with the same health problem.
