Dec. 15, 2025: At Lakewood, we’re fortunate to have team members whose compassion runs deep, not only in the work they do, but in the lives they lead. For husband-and-wife physicians Dr. Nathan Dewey and Dr. Frany Dadhania, that compassion is woven into both their careers and their family story.

Dr. Dadhania, a rheumatologist, and Dr. Dewey, a palliative care physician, first met during their residency training. What started as a few dinners and hikes together in the Blue Ridge Mountains quickly grew into something more serious.
“We started dating, and the rest is history,” Dr. Dewey shared with a smile.
Their paths into medicine began long before residency. Dr. Dewey grew up in Colorado Springs watching his father practice medicine, sparking a childhood interest. “I felt drawn to it as a way to help people,” he said.
For Dr. Dadhania, the call came in high school in India. As she explored different professions, she found herself naturally gravitating toward healthcare. “It aligned with my desire to support people in a meaningful way,” she shared.
Finding their place and purpose at Lakewood
When the opportunity to join Lakewood arose, both physicians felt a strong sense of connection, both professionally and personally.
“We wanted to be engaged physicians as well as involved parents,” Dr. Dadhania explained. “Medicine is very demanding, and Lakewood offers the flexibility to practice while still spending time with our family.”
What stood out most though was Lakewood’s heart.
“Lakewood Health System is part of its local community in a way we haven’t seen elsewhere. It truly stands by its patients. Coming here was the right decision, no doubt about it,” said Dr. Dewey.
As their roles have settled into place, so has a deeper appreciation for the work they do.
As a board-certified internist and rheumatologist, Dr. Dadhania specializes in diagnosing and treating autoimmune and rheumatic conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriatic arthritis, and other complex inflammatory diseases. She sees patients in Staples and Pillager clinics.
As a board-certified internist and palliative medicine physician, Dr. Dewey cares for people living with serious or life-limiting illnesses. He works closely with a multidisciplinary team to address physical, emotional and spiritual needs, helping patients manage symptoms, navigate major decisions and improve their quality of life.
When needed, he also provides end-of-life care which focuses on dignity and comfort. Dr. Dewey sees patients in the Lakewood Cancer Center and Staples clinic.
Both physicians say the same thing about their day-to-day experience with Lakewood team members. “We’ve both enjoyed how friendly, collaborative, caring and attentive the team is here at Lakewood. We also appreciate the personal touch to the care Lakewood provides,” said Dr. Dewey.
What they love most about caring for patients here is simple: It’s the people.
“We love how down-to-earth everyone is. We get to make real human connections,” Dr. Dadhania shared.
“This community is filled with hard-working folks, and it’s an honor to serve them,” added Dr. Dewey.

Life as physicians, partners and parents
Balancing two medical careers and a busy family life isn’t always easy, but for Dr. Dadhania and Dr. Dewey, it’s truly filled with joy.
Their young son keeps them on their toes, and their shared understanding of the demands of medicine gives their partnership an extra layer of support.
“It’s fun to do this work alongside one another,” Dr. Dewey said. “Plus, we can understand each other’s days better.”
Outside of Lakewood, the family enjoys taking walks together on local trails or when the temperatures dip, wandering through nearby stores for an indoor stroll. They also love exploring the local library, camping under the stars, and cooking meals together.
As they settle into their roles and life in central Minnesota, Dr. Dadhania and Dr. Dewey feel grateful and excited for the future.
“We look forward to many happy years ahead,” Dr. Dewey said.
