Lakewood Health System to Host Public Open House for New Cancer Center

Sept. 23, 2025: Lakewood Health System invites the public to an open house for its highly anticipated new cancer center on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 4 to 6 p.m. Attendees are asked to park and enter at Entrance B, which is located on the south end of the Staples clinic (49725 Cty. 83). The open house will feature tours of the new building, the opportunity to meet the oncology team and learn more about the new services being provided, and refreshments.

The 19,270 square foot addition is located off the southwest corner of Lakewood’s Staples clinic and includes a dedicated reception and waiting area. The center also includes 14 infusion bays, 10 medical oncology and 2 radiation oncology exam rooms, a procedure room, in-house PET/CT, and a linear accelerator, used for radiation treatments. Oncology case managers will be located within the new space for easy access to patients.

Since 2022, Lakewood’s oncology department has expanded to offer patients a wide spectrum of cancer care. The team now includes medical oncologists/hematologists, Drs. Wade Swenson, Emily McGovern and Aquino Williams, who joined in September 2022, September 2024 and September 2025, respectively. Nurse practitioners Mariah Neiman and Jessica Nybakken became part of the team in March and November 2023, enhancing access and continuity of care. Further supporting patients through specialized services, Lakewood is proud to offer radiation oncology care with Dr. Sheilaine Mabanta and palliative care expertise with Dr. Nathan Dewey.

With the growth in provider coverage, came the need for additional space. The cancer center was built to meet these growing needs, which also allows Lakewood to add new services not previously available to patients in the area.
