Sept. 22, 2025: Lakewood Health System is excited to announce the launch of its new breast MRI screening service, expanding the breast health services available to patients across central Minnesota. This new service line gives patients access to advanced breast imaging close to home and reflects Lakewood’s commitment to bringing high-quality care to the community.
Breast MRI is a powerful screening tool that uses magnetic resonance imaging to create highly detailed pictures of breast tissue. It is especially valuable for patients who are at high risk for breast cancer, have dense breast tissue, or need additional evaluation beyond a mammogram.
Supporting Earlier Detection
Breast MRI provides exceptionally clear, detailed images that can reveal even the smallest changes in breast tissue. This level of precision helps doctors detect breast cancer and other breast health concerns earlier—when they are most treatable.
Expanding Local Access to Care
By adding breast MRI screening to its services, Lakewood allows patients to receive comprehensive breast care without needing to travel to larger cities for screenings.
